Adventurers 1

It’s been a good afternoon and evening here. The highlight of the evening was the campfire at Bass Point. Though the mosquitos were out in force, ample amounts of bug spray and fun kept our minds off of them.

Here’s a photo from this morning’s chapel (see the previous post for more details).

One of the most popular games at camp in the past has been Nuk’em. This weekend has been no different. The campers have loved playing this game (which is a kind of child-friendly volleyball), even though the little ones can’t always throw the ball over the net. They still enjoy being involved!

And here’s one more picture to wrap up my posts for Adventurers 1 camp. Have a good day, and may God bless you!

Warren here, writing to let you know about our morning here at Adventurers 1. The weather has been beautiful and that really adds a lot to the camp experience.

A delicious breakfast, some cabin quiet times (where the campers learn about the Bible), and morning chapel marked the start of this day.  In chapel, the campers learned the story of the 12 spies who went into the land of Canaan. Bill Abeler, the speaker of the weekend, used the campers to act out the story, and they had a blast.

Our morning game was “Capture the Lifejacket (or Flag).” Even though some of the campers were a bit too young to fully grasp all the rules of the game, a good time was had by all.

All the campers are now taking a moment to settle down and get some rest before free time. Kristin, the craft lady, is reading a story to the children and then they will watch some VeggieTales.

Well, this was a lot to read, but thanks for hanging in there with me! Enjoy your afternoon and remember Who created this day! Rejoice and be glad in it!

Well, the first day of camp has gone great! One of the best parts of today has been getting to know the campers. They are at such a fun age 🙂

Beach Crew

Even though it was a bit chilly, we still had a good turnout at the beach. Especially for the counselor hunt. The campers combed camp’s grounds to find their counselor or another staff member and if they did, that staff member got pushed in the lake! A camp classic.

Counselor Hunt

Though today has been the first day of Adventurers 1, we still had ample amounts of free time to enjoy camp. Paddleboating, carpetball, canteen, the gift shop, swimming, and canoeing were some of the most popular free time activities.

Paddleboating

After free time and dinner, the campers went to chapel where they learned what it means to be on this road trip called life. Bill Abeler, the camp director, shared his wisdom and gave the kids a good time.

The carnival followed chapel. Wow, were the campers excited! They were able to dunk their counselor, get “tumbleweed hair,” challenge a staff member to carpetball, or face down Joe Budish in a hockey shoot.

Carnival

Well, that’s all for now. See you back here tomorrow before noon! Have a great day and remember to give all the glory back to God!

Hey there!

Warren here, just updating you about the beginning of the road trip we’ll be on all summer. The staff of 45 has been here at camp for a week and a half getting ready and learning the best way to create a safe place for campers to come and worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We are so excited for the first week of camp to begin in just a few hours!! Adventurers 1 will be a great opening to what I’m sure will be a fantastic summer. At various times throughout the weekend, I’ll be updating you with what’s going on here at camp, so keep watching!

I’ll post again late tonight with an update on how the first day of Adventurers went! Until then, have a great day and glorify His Name!!!
